Why We Should Live In The Present

Updated: Dec 12, 2020

Life is precious and fragile. If you are here, it is no accident so live on Purpose. Every day you should be pointed in the direction of your dreams, goals, and purpose. Are you living by default or do you have a plan and a strategy? Are you an active participant in your life? Or are you a major player in someone else's vision? It is so important that you be intentional and actively engaged in your own life. Mind your own business. Live in the present. Don’t let your past dictate your future and don’t let other people drag you into their drama. Stay focused on where you want to go and what you want to do. Don’t be so quick to go on someone else’s journey and miss out on discovering your own. The only thing you have is the present. It’s the only moment that You can truly Control.

Often times, people find themselves depressed and hopeless. I guarantee it is because they are thinking about something in the past that has convinced them that they have no future. Likewise, if you are suffering from anxiety and uneasiness it is because you are looking to far into the future and trying to figure it all out. Let God do the figuring, you just fall back. Sometimes, we are just in need of rest and so he will slow us down so that we can hear him speak and feel his guidance. This is time for reflection and soul searching. Live in reality. Be authentic. Be a truth teller. Most importantly tell yourself the truth about yourself. Don’t lie to yourself. Remember God already knows who you are so be real. There is ease in life when you learn how to be yourself and be comfortable with who God mad you to be. Good, bad, and indifferent.

Be Flexable Life is full of twist and turns so be flexible. Not fickle! Be open and willing to step back and look at a situation so you can adjust and regroup. Trust yourself and trust God and the inspiration that you get from him. Listen for his guidance and be patient with yourself because he is patient with you. His Purpose and your Goals are different, but you can obtain both. His Purpose is the course that he placed you on, but your goals are the details that get you there and helps you become the best version of yourself.

Everything we do must be done with intention. Everything has purpose behind it, even us. We do not walk aimlessly around the earth. If you lay down it is with the purpose of sleep. If you drive somewhere then you usually have a destination and if you eat it is mostly because you’re hungry. So likewise, if your born then there is a particular purpose for your life. We must discover it. Simply ask yourself what is my passion? What excites me and what brings me joy? Once you are on track for following your dreams, the next step should come easy and feel natural. We can then effectively fulfill our purpose and vision for our lives. Vision is the power of imagination. It is a supernatural appearance that conveys a revelation from God himself. Trust me he is speaking. We sometimes are just too distracted to hear him.

My own personal vision statement includes things such as reading, writing; exercise, travel, dance and encouraging people, sharing ideas, and having a positive influence in the lives of others. When I live by the goals I set from my personal vision, I feel a sense of wholeness, completion, and joy. When I am in alignment with God he begins to provide me with all types of opportunities to live these things out. Heaven opens for me and everything he promised and everything my heart desires begins to manifest. Likewise, when I lose focus, become fickle or just plain lazy, I begin to feel the disconnect. Once this happens, I quickly make the Adjustments to get back on track. I write The Vision again. I keep it in front of me to remind myself of the things that are profoundly important to me. The scripture says in Habakkuk 2:2, “And the LORD answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. Verse 3, “For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay”. This scripture is so true. We must run with our vision. Keep it close and believe that everything that we are asking for has an appointed time. It is on the way.
