Less Is More

Updated: Dec 8, 2020

Often times in life we feel like we must accumulate a lot of stuff. I have found that too much stuff can sometimes create a lot of anxiety. It seems that when a person has too much stuff it can be a distraction from the things that are really important. Often times, people who consume a plethora of possessions that have no purpose can feel empty and unfulfilled. Drowning yourself in clutter can be overwhelming. The biggest accomplishment would be to get rid of items that no longer serve a purpose and successfully detach yourself.

Once you have organized and decluttered some of the stuff from your life, you will begin to feel a sense of accomplishment. This will only lead to more success, so do not stop there. If you’re unhappy with any area of your life be sure to remember to declutter. The reason decluttering is so important is that it adds value and helps you to receive clarity and understanding of yourself and your true desires.

You sometimes have to clear space so that new things can appear in your life. Getting clear about what you want and don’t want puts you on a path of clarity. Clarity helps you discern what is useful and what is not. Once you get clear the process of decluttering becomes much easier. Though you may see decluttering as cleaning up, it is the first step to attracting prosperity and happiness and even love.

Most of us like the idea of being rich, but the truth is that we really want financial freedom. A major lesson we learn from wealthy people is that money doesn’t necessarily equate to happiness. We also know that just because you have a career or job that pays a lot of money doesn’t mean that you will enjoy doing the job. It is important that we love what we do, and then and only then will the money come and happiness follow. There are many people that are on a career path just to impress others or to make someone else happy. There is nothing more rewarding than doing what you were called to do even if others don’t agree with your decisions.

By pursuing your passion, you will feel fulfilled and content. The need to impress or please others will dissipate. You will not seek out the opinion of others, but instead you will be secure and confident in making your own choices. The true joy is to be passionate about what we do. We can truly experience excitement and fulfillment that only comes from developing new skills and using our creativity. The true meaning of success is a life and work that is filled with passion and that fosters personal growth and brings fulfillment and lasting change to the world that we live in.

There are some dangers in not doing what you love. A lack of passion may mean that you lose out to people that are. Passion shines like a light and draws people to you. Creating enduring success is not about going through the motions but creating your own steady pace and staying committed. Commitment requires that you set aside the things that are not aligning with what you love. That includes people. You may have to allow certain people to drift away in order to do you. You have to be around people that will see your passion and encourage your vision and maybe even join you on your journey. You will be surprised about who shows up in your life when you are intentional and focused. Align your words, and actions with your vision and you will see that life will unleash its awesomeness and everything will be amazing.

Saying yes to what you want and no to what you don’t want leads you to a clear path. It creates time for the things that are most important and points you toward what really matters. It is the truest form of decluttering. Clearing space to get the real work done.

Once you are committed and have your sense of direction you must map out your plan. This means it’s time to write. Start with the end in mind. Change is not always easy but if you write out your plan and keep it in front of you it becomes less complicated. Writing has to become a daily habit. It will help keep you focused and organized. It also holds you accountable. Starting with the end in mind means that you write down where you want to be in a particular time frame. So, write the goals and a completion date. This will help keep you on track.

A good example would be, I want to grow my YouTube channel to 1000 subscribers by March 2021. So that is my end goal. Well, in order to accomplish this means that I have to upload a certain number of videos. Everyday my priority is to create and film new content. If I do not focus on the daily task, then I won’t reach my end goal. It will be a fail. Writing daily makes me keep the goal in front of me and helps me take the necessary steps to get it done.

The real key is to get it done with no wavering. This becomes easier when we are actually doing what we love with intention, focus and passion. It is so much easier to follow our passion and stay focus when we remove the unnecessary things from our lives.
